Starting from June 1st, 2009 Russian Railways is finally allowing to board their trains without a special boarding pass. You no longer have to exchange your e-ticket for a boarding pass at a train station and can use your e-ticket to board the train. Makes sense, does not it?
Carriage stewards on the trains listed below now have special scanners
to check you in:
- Moscow - St. Petersburg - Moscow (trains number 55, 56, 23, 24, 3, 4, 159, 160, 165 and 166);
- Moscow - Gorkiy - Moscow (trains number 61, 62, 119 and 120);
- Moscow - Kazan - Moscow (trains number 49 and 50).
To use this convenient feature you should do three things:
- purchase an e-ticket (which you can easily do on this site);
- bring your e-ticket print out with you to the station; and
- have passports for all the passengers listed in your e-ticket print-out.
Please note, this new procedure is available for select trains and routes only. If your train is not in the list, you will need to use
the old procedure - exchange your e-ticket for a boarding pass at a train station. For that, we recommend you arriving to the train station at least half an hour before your departure time.
We wish you a wonderful journey across Russia.
