Vladivostok is Russia’s easternmost major city, the capital of Primorsky Krai. It’s been dubbed as Russia’s gateway to the Pacific, but became more known for rampant corruption.
The hopes about the city’s bright economic future near Asian economies by and large are yet materialize, but, nonetheless, Vladivostok is an exceptionally interesting city with unique look and character, buoyant by local standards commerce, surprisingly large number of expats and Russia’s Pacific Fleet.
Vladivostok’s various neighborhoods are scattered on the hills that overlook beautiful bays filled with ships. And, in the city center you will find beautiful 19th century streets and buildings. The city has rich choice of great restaurants and bars, three large universities, US Consulate and few good hotels.
Recommended hotel s in Vladivostok are the 4-star Versailles, the 4-star Hyundai and, for a budget option, Vladivostok Hotel, which will reopen this year after renovations.
